The MG ECU located in the w/ converter inverter assembly detects the temperature of the front motor inverter using the temperature sensor built into the w/ converter inverter assembly. The inverter cooling system is the same as that for the Motor or Generator, and operates independently of the engine cooling system. The characteristics of the front motor inverter temperature sensor are the same as that of the boost converter temperature sensor. The MG ECU limits the load based on signals sent from the front motor inverter temperature sensor in order to check the effect of the inverter cooling system and prevent overheat. The MG ECU also detects a malfunction in the front motor inverter temperature sensor connection and in the sensor.
