Inspection Procedure
HINT:
- If DTC P0010 is displayed, check the bank 1 OCV.
- If DTC P0020 is displayed, check the bank 2 OCV.
- Bank 1 includes No. 1 cylinder, but bank 2 does not. No. 1 cylinder is located in the front part of the engine, opposite the transmission.
- Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER (OCV OPERATION)
- Connect the intelligent tester to the CAN VIM. Then connect the CAN VIM to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and warm it up.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT CTRL B1 or VVT CTRL B2.
- Operate the Oil Control Valve (OCV) and check the engine condition at idling.
OK

- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OPERATION)
- Disconnect the C40 or C41 OCV connector.
- Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the OCV.
- Check the engine speed.

- CHECK ECM (OCV SIGNAL)
- Inspect the ECM using an oscilloscope.
- While idling the engine, check the waveform of the ECM connector using an oscilloscope.
