Front Brake Pad, Brake Caliper & Brake Rotor: Removal
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
CAUTION:
When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
- DRAIN BRAKE FLUID NOTE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surfaces.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE WITH HOLE PIN
- Remove the pin hold clip.
- Remove the front disc brake anti-rattle with hole pin while pushing on the anti-rattle spring.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING NOTE: The anti-rattle spring and clip can be used again if they have sufficient rebound, no deformation, cracks or wear, and have had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.
- REMOVE DISC BRAKE PAD KIT FRONT (PAD ONLY)
- Remove the 2 pads and 2 anti-squeal shims from each pad.
- DISCONNECT FRONT BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
- Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake caliper, then disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake caliper.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
- Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake caliper from the knuckle.
