Parking Brake Assembly: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.
      NOTE: Hang the caliper with wire or equivalent.
    2. Remove the caliper No.1 plate (2 pieces).
  3. REMOVE REAR DISC 
    1. Release the parking brake.

    2. Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.
    3. Remove the rear disc.

      HINT:

      If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns smoothly.

  4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.2 SPRING 
    1. Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe return No.2 spring.

      SST 09703-30011

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.1 SPRING 
    1. Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe return No.1 spring.

      SST 09703-30011

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET 
    1. Slide the parking brake shoe, and remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.

  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE NO.1 SHOE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

      SST 09718-00010 

    2. Remove the parking brake No.1 shoe assembly.

  8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE NO.2 SHOE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

      SST 09718-00010 

    2. Remove the parking brake No.2 shoe assembly.

      HINT:

      Use the service hole to retain the hold down spring No.1 pin with your finger.

  9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER 
  10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK 
    1. Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (see INSTALLATION ).
    2. Remove the 2 nuts and parking brake anchor block.
