Front Brake Pad, Brake Caliper & Brake Rotor: Inspection
- INSPECT BRAKE CYLINDER AND PISTON
- Check the brake cylinder bore and the brake piston for rust or scoring.
- INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS
- Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.
Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.)
Standard thickness: 11.0 mm (0.394 in.)
- Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.
- INSPECT FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE NO. 1
- Make sure that the pad support plate No. 1 has sufficient rebound, has no deformation, cracks or wear, and that all rust and dirt are cleaned off. If necessary, replace the brake pad support plate No. 1.
- Clean the contact surface of the pad support plate of the disc brake cylinder mounting before installing. After installation, check that there is no looseness or deformation.
- When installing the pad, check that the support has sufficient rebound and the pad does not fall out easily.
- INSPECT FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE NO. 2
- Make sure that the pad support plate No. 2 has sufficient rebound, has no deformation, cracks or wear, and that all rust and dirt are cleaned off. If necessary, replace the brake pad support plate No. 2.
- INSPECT DISC THICKNESS
- Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness.
Minimum thickness : 26.0mm (1.024 in.)
Standard thickness: 28.0mm (1.102 in.)
- If the disc thickness is less than the minimum, replace the front disc.
- Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness.
