HINT:

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OCV) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
    3. Put the engine in inspection mode (See INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE  ).
    4. Warm up the engine.
    5. On the tester, enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT CTRL B1 or VVT CTRL B2.
    6. Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the tester.

      OK 

      TESTER OPERATION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      OCV OFF Normal engine speed
      OCV ON Engine idles roughly or stalls (soon after OCV switched from OFF to ON)

    OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OCV FOR INTAKE CAMSHAFT) 
    1. Disconnect the V6 or V7 OCV connector.
    2. While idling, check the waveform between the terminals of the V6 or V7 OCV connector using an oscilloscope.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      V7-1 (+) - V7-2 (-) Correct waveform is as shown
      V6-1 (+) - V6-2 (-) Correct waveform is as shown
    3. Reconnect the OCV connector.

    OK: REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. INSPECT HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - HV CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the V6 or V7 OCV connector.
    2. Disconnect the H31 HV Control ECU connector.
    3. Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance (Check for open) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OCV (V7-1) - OC1+ (H31-16) Below 1 Ω
      OCV (V7-2) - OC1- (H31-15) Below 1 Ω
      OCV (V6-1) - OC2+ (H31-14) Below 1 Ω
      OCV (V6-2) - OC2- (H31-13) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OCV (V7-1) or OC1+ (H31-16) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      OCV (V7-2) or OC1- (H31-15) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      OCV (V6-1) or OC2+ (H31-14) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      OCV (V6-2) or OC2- (H31-13) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the OCV connector.
    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG: REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
