Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
  1. INSPECT DLC3 (BETWEEN DLC3 (TC) AND DLC3 (CG)) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SPECIFICATION CONDITION .

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D1-13 (TC) - D1-4 (CG) 10 to 14 V

    NG: Go to step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC (FOR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTC.

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ACCORDING TO OUTPUT CODE (SEE  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE  ) 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK ECM (DLC3 (TC) INPUT) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

      SST 09843-18040

    2. Check if the engine warning light is blinking.

      OK: Engine warning light is blinking.

    NG: REPLACE ECM (SEE  ECM (1GR-FE)  ,  ECM (2UZ-FE)  ) 

    OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN ECM AND DLC3 (TC)) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      E8-23 (TC) - D1-13 (TC) Below 1

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN DLC3 (CG) AND BODY GROUND) (see  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D1-4 (CG) - Body ground Below 1

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK ECM (DLC3 (TC) INPUT) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

      SST 09843-18040

    2. Check if the engine warning light is blinking.

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Engine warning light is blinking A
      Engine warning light is not blinking B

    B: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR ECM (TC AND/OR ECM CIRCUIT) 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK DTC (FOR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTC.

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ACCORDING TO OUTPUT CODE (SEE  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE  ) 

    A: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (SEE  OVERHAUL  )
