Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION
).
- INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the skid control ECU (S29) connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Check that the brake warning light comes on.
OK: Brake warning light comes on.
NG: Go to step 2
OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See OVERHAUL )
- INSPECT BATTERY
- Check the battery voltage.
Standard: Voltage: 11 to 14 V
NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION , ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
OK: Go to next step
- Check the battery voltage.
- INSPECT FUSE (GAUGE FUSE)
- Remove the GAUGE fuse from the driver side J/B.
- Check the GAUGE fuse.
Standard: Below 1
NG: CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESS AND CONNECTOR CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER) (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
)
- Install the GAUGE fuse.
- Disconnect the combination meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .
Standard:
TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLETester Connection Specified Condition S29-3 (BRL) - C11-2 Below 1 S29-3 (BRL) - Body ground 10 k or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Reconnect the skid control ECU (S29) connector and combination meter connector.
- Check if the indicators (shift position, airbag etc.) other than brake warning light operate normally.
Result:
