Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).

INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (S29) connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Check that the brake warning light comes on.
  OK: Brake warning light comes on.
NG: Go to step 2

OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See OVERHAUL )
INSPECT BATTERY
1. Check the battery voltage.
  Standard: Voltage: 11 to 14 V
NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION , ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

OK: Go to next step
INSPECT FUSE (GAUGE FUSE)
1. Remove the GAUGE fuse from the driver side J/B.
2. Check the GAUGE fuse.
  Standard: Below 1
NG: CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESS AND CONNECTOR CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE

OK: Go to next step

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER) (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

Install the GAUGE fuse.
Disconnect the combination meter connector.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

Standard:

TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

Tester Connection	Specified Condition
S29-3 (BRL) - C11-2	Below 1
S29-3 (BRL) - Body ground	10 k or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY

Reconnect the skid control ECU (S29) connector and combination meter connector.

Check if the indicators (shift position, airbag etc.) other than brake warning light operate normally.

Result:

A: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE COMBINATION METER ASSY )
