Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota 4Runner. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. INSPECT IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check the skid control ECU connector's connecting condition.

      OK: The connector should be securely connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard: Voltage: 11 to 14 V 

    NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ,  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S28-15 (INFR) - C10-17 Below 1
      S28-15 (INFR) - Body ground 10 k or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Check the combination meter system (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (CSW TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S28-43 (CSW) - Body ground AUTO LSD switch is not pushed in 10 k or higher

    NG: Go to step   6 

    OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  6. INSPECT AUTO LSD SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the AUTO LSD switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A42-3 - A42-4 Switch is pushed in Below 1
      A42-3 - A42-4 Switch is not pushed in 10 k or higher

    NG: REPLACE AUTO LSD SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN SKID CONTROL ECU, BODY GROUND AND AUTO LSD SWITCH) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S28-43 (CSW) - A42-3 Below 1
      S28-43 (CSW) - Body ground 10 k or higher
      A42-4 - Body ground Below 1

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: END
