Steering Pad: Installation

NOTE: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (see AIRBAG SYSTEM ).

INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
1. Support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.
2. Connect the 2 airbag connectors.
  NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
3. Connect the horn connector.
4. Install the steering pad after confirming that the circumference grooves of the screws are caught on the screw case.
5. Using a T30 "torx" socket, install the 2 screws.
  Torque: 8.8 N*m (90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf)
6. Install the steering wheel lower covers.

INSPECT STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
PERFORM INITIALIZATION
1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
  NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
1. Check the SRS warning light (see PRECAUTION ).
