Inspection Procedure

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT:

    According to the DATA LIST displayed by the intelligent tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step of troubleshooting is one method to shorten labor time.

    NOTE: In DATA LIST TABLE , the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Connect the intelligent tester together with the CAN VIM (controller area network vehicle interface module) to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG) position.
    5. Turn on the tester.
    6. Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST".
    7. According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".

HINT:

  1. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION 
    1. Check the speed sensor (SP2) installation.

    OK: 

    The installation bolt is tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transmission case.

    NG: SECURELY INSTALL SPEED SENSOR OR REPLACE SPEED SENSOR 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  2. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR (SP2) 
    1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SPEED SENSOR (SP2)  .

    Standard resistance 

    SPEED SENSOR (SP2)

    Tester Connection Specified Condition 20°C (68°F)
    1 - 2 560 to 680 ohms

    NG: REPLACE SPEED SENSOR (SP2) 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPEED SENSOR - ECM) 
    1. Connect the speed sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SPEED SENSOR - ECM  .

      Standard resistance 

      SPEED SENSOR - ECM (RESISTANCE)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition 20°C (68°F)
      E4-23 (SP2+) - E4-22 (SP2-) 560 to 680 ohms

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINAL CONDITION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE  .

    Standard resistance (Check for short) 

    SPEED SENSOR - ECM (CHECK FOR SHORT)

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    E4-23 (SP2+) - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher
    E4-22 (SP2-) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE ECM
