FUEL INJECTOR (for Port Injection): Inspection
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Lexus IS 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
- Inspect injector resistance.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Standard resistance: 11.6 to 12.4 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
- Inspect the injection volume.CAUTION: This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity. Take all precautions regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electricity. Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flames. Do not smoke.
- Remove the fuel pipe clamp.
- Disconnect the fuel tube.
- Connect the SST to the fuel pipe (the vehicle side).
SST 09268-31010 (09268-41500, 90467-13001, 95336-08070)
- Install the O-ring to the fuel injector.
- Install the SST and tube to the fuel injector.
SST 09268-31010 (90467-13001, 09268-41300, 09268-41160)
- Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.
SST 09842-30090
CAUTION: Install a strong rubber tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing. - Operate the fuel pump (turn the engine switch on (IG)).
- Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
Injection volume: 72.3 to 75.2 cm 3 (4.4 to 4.6 cu in.) per 15 seconds
If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
- Check for leakage.
- In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.
Fuel drop: 1 drop or less in 24 minutes
- In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.
- Inspect injector resistance.
