Parking Brake Assembly: Disassembly
- REMOVE REAR WHEEL
- SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.NOTE: Hang the caliper with wire or equivalent.
- Remove the No. 1 caliper plate (2 pieces).
- Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.
- REMOVE REAR DISC

- Release the parking brake.
- Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.
- Remove the rear disc.
HINT:
If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns smoothly.
- REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING
- Using SST, remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe return spring.

- REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING
- Using SST, remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe return spring.

- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET
- Slide the parking brake shoe, and remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.
- REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
- Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.

- Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
HINT:
Use the service hole to retain the No. 1 hold down spring pin with your finger.
- Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.
- REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
- Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.

- Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.
HINT:
Use the service hole to retain the No. 1 hold down spring pin with your finger.
- Using SST, remove the No. 1 shoe hold down spring cup, No. 1 compression spring and No. 1 shoe hold down spring pin.
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER
- Remove the parking brake shoe lever.
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK
- Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (See Step 21 in REMOVAL
- Remove the 2 nuts, cable support bracket and parking brake anchor block.
