HINT:
Using the intelligent tester to read the DATA LIST allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful as intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring are disturbed. Reading the DATA LIST information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
- Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Read the DATA LIST on the tester's screen.

Using the intelligent tester to perform ACTIVE TEST allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be tested without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful as intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring are disturbed. Using the ACTIVE TEST early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. It is possible to view Data List information on the intelligent tester while performing ACTIVE TEST.
- Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Perform the ACTIVE TEST according to the display on the tester.
