Seat Heater Switch: Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the K40 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch OFF (volume 0) 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch ON (volume 1) Approx. 2.4 kΩ
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch ON (volume 3) Approx. 0.4 kΩ
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch OFF (volume 0) 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch ON (volume 1) Approx. 2.4 kΩ
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch ON (volume 3) Approx. 0.4 kΩ

      HINT:

      As the dial is being turned, the resistance changes gradually.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

    3. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (ILL+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 12 (E).
    4. Check the indicator light.

      OK 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Condition Specified Condition
      Front LH side seat heater switch ON Front LH side seat heater indicator light illuminates
      Front RH side seat heater switch ON Front RH side seat heater indicator light illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH (w/ CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT SYSTEM) 
    1. Disconnect the K40 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch heater side OFF (volume 0) 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch heater side ON (volume 1) Approx. 2.4 kΩ
      1 - 6 Front LH side seat heater switch heater side ON (volume 3) Approx. 0.4 kΩ
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch heater side OFF (volume 0) 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch heater side ON (volume 1) Approx. 2.4 kΩ
      2 - 11 Front RH side seat heater switch heater side ON (volume 3) Approx. 0.4 kΩ
      8 - 10 Always Approx. 2.2 kΩ
      7 - 10 Front LH side seat heater switch blower side OFF (volume 0) Approx. 2.2 kΩ
      7 - 10 Front LH side seat heater switch blower side ON (volume 3) Below 1 Ω
      9 - 10 Front RH side seat heater switch blower side OFF (volume 0) Approx. 2.2 kΩ
      9 - 10 Front RH side seat heater switch blower side ON (volume 3) Below 1 Ω

      HINT:

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.
