Rear Axle Carrier Sub-ASSY LH (Ff): Replacement

HINT:

REAR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS: (See REAR SUSPENSION )

Replace the RH side using the same procedures as for the LH side.

REMOVE REAR WHEEL
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Remove the bolt, and separate the flexible hose from the shock absorber.

2. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assy.
  NOTE: Use a string or other device to keep the brake caliper from hanging down.

REMOVE REAR DISC
DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR
1. Disconnect the connector.
REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSY LH
1. Remove the 4 bolts and hub & bearing assy LH.

SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR (W/AIR SUSPENSION) (See REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH (FF) )
SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR (W/DISCHARGE HEAD LAMP) (See HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR RH , HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR RH )
HINT:

Perform the procedure only when removing the RH side.
SEPARATE STRUT ROD ASSY REAR
1. Remove the bolt and nut, and the strut rod assy rear (rear axle carrier side) from rear axle carrier.
  HINT:
  
  When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
SEPARATE REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH
1. Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear suspension arm assy No. 2 (rear axle carrier side) from the rear axle carrier.
  HINT:
  
  When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotate.

SEPARATE REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 1 LH
1. Remove the bolt and nut, separate the rear suspension arm assy No. 1 (rear axle carrier side) from the rear axle carrier.
  HINT:
  
  When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotate.

REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSY LH
1. Remove the 2 bolts and nuts, and remove the rear axle carrier from the shock absorber.

INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSY LH
1. Install the rear axle carrier sub-assy with the 2 bolts and nuts to the shock absorber.
  Torque: 180 N.m (1,840 kgf.cm, 133 ft.lbf)
  
  HINT:
  
  Insert the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the nut.

TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 1 LH
1. Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assy No. 1 LH with the bolt and nut.
  HINT:
  
  Insert the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.

TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH
1. Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assy No. 2 LH with the bolt and nut.
  HINT:
  
  Insert the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.

TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN STRUT ROD ASSY REAR
1. Temporarily tighten the strut rod assy rear with the bolt and nut.
  HINT:
  
  Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.
INSTALL HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR (W/AIR SUSPENSION) (See REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH (FF) )
INSTALL HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR (W/DISCHARGE HEAD LAMP) (See HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR RH , HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSY REAR RH )
HINT:

Perform the procedure only when installing the RH side.
INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSY LH
1. Install the hub & bearing assy LH with the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 75 N.m (765 kgf.cm, 55 ft.lbf)

INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
INSPECT AXLE HUB DEVIATION (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR
1. Connect the connector.
  NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire when connecting it.
INSTALL REAR DISC
INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Install the rear disc brake caliper with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 78 N.m (800 kgf.cm, 58 ft.lbf)

2. Install the bolt with flexible hose to the shock absorber.
  Torque: 19 N.m (192 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
STABILIZE SUSPENSION (See STRUT ROD ASSY REAR )
FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 1 LH (See REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH (FF) )
FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 2 LH (See REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSY NO. 1 LH (FF) )
FULLY TIGHTEN STRUT ROD ASSY REAR (See STRUT ROD ASSY REAR )
INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT )
ADJUST VEHICLE HEIGHT (W/AIR SUSPENSION) (See PRE-CHECK , PRE-CHECK )
ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIM ONLY (W/DISCHARGE HEAD LAMP) (See ADJUSTMENT , ADJUSTMENT )
CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL (See PRE-CHECK , PRE-CHECK )
