Air Bag Sensor ASSY Center: Replacement

  1. (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT RH SEAT ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  5. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.2 (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  14. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  15. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER NO.2 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover No.2.

      HINT:

      Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  18. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover.

      HINT:

      Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY 
    1. Remove the 6 bolts.
    2. Disconnect the console box slide cable.
    3. Remove the clamp and disconnect the connector, and then remove the console box assy.

  20. REMOVE CONSOLE COVER LOWER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the console cover lower.

  21. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX DUCT NO.1 
  22. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.2 (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  23. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1 (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  24. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assy center.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assy center.

  25. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.
    3. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assy center with the 3 bolts.
      NOTE:
      • If the airbag sensor assy center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assy center with a new one.
      • When installing the airbag sensor assy center, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

      Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    5. Connect the connectors of the airbag sensor assy center.
    6. Check that no play is identified.
    7. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.
  26. INSTALL FRONT LH SEAT ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  27. INSTALL FRONT RH SEAT ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 
  28. OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  ) 
  29. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
