Side Air Bag Sensor ASSY LH: Replacement

HINT:

Replacement procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

  1. (See  PRECAUTION  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (See  SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and the side airbag sensor assy LH.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the side airbag sensor assy LH.

  11. INSTALL SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY LH 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is OFF.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.
    3. Install the side airbag sensor assy LH with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Installation of the connector is performed with the side airbag sensor assy LH installed. Make sure the side airbag sensor assy LH is installed with the specified torque.
      • If the side airbag sensor assy LH has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the side airbag sensor assy LH with a new one.
      • When installing the side airbag sensor assy LH, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Connect the connector of the side airbag sensor assy LH.
    5. Check that no play is identified.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  13. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
