Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BUZZER (KEY UN-LOCK WARNING, PARKING BRAKE WARNING, SEAT BELT WARNING) 
    1. Check that all of the warning buzzers sound.

    1. B: Go to step   2 
    2. C: GO TO KEY REMAINDER WARNING SYSTEM 
    3. D: GO TO BRAKE SYSTEM 
    4. A: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check that the seat belt warning buzzer sound.
    1. Connect LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on LEXUS hand-held tester.
    4. Check that the buzzer sound by LEXUS hand-held tester.

      OK: Seat belt warning buzzer sounds normally. 

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO STEP   3 . 
  3. READ VALUE OF LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check output valve of driver's side buckle switch.
    1. Connect LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the DATA LIST mode on LEXUS hand-held tester.
    4. Check the driver's side buckle switch using DATA LIST.
    1. NG: GO TO STEP   4 . 
    2. OK: GO TO STEP   6 
  4. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Check continuity.
    1. Disconnect the connector of the front seat inner belt LH.
    2. Check continuity between terminals 1 and 3 when the buckle switch condition is as shown in the Fig 2.

      OK:

    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    2. OK: GO TO STEP   5 . 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH AND DRIVER SIDE J/B ECU) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK 
  6. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEARS A KNOWN GOOD COMBINATION METER IS INSTALLED 
    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE PASSENGER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK
