Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check compass operation.
    1. Connect LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on LEXUS hand-held tester.
    4. Check all the segments of compass directs in the combination meter by LEXUS hand-held tester.

      OK: All segments direct normally. 

    1. NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO STEP   2 . 
  2. CARIBRATE COMPASS 
    1. Perform the calibration.
    1. OK: NORMAL 
    2. NG: GO TO STEP   3 . 
  3. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BETWEEN COMBINATION METER AND MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO STEP   4 . 
  4. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEARS WHEN A KNOWN GOOD MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR IS INSTALLED 
    1. Check that malfunction disappears when a known good magnetic field sensor is installed.

    1. A: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. B: REPLACE MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR
