Hood (Exterior Body Panels): Overhaul

HINT:

The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.

REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE
1. Remove the 2 bolts and auxiliary catch release lever.
2. Remove the bolt and auxiliary catch hook.

3. Remove the 5 nuts, clip and radiator grille.

REMOVE HOOD INSULATOR
1. Using a clip remover, remove the 8 clips and hood insulator.
  HINT:
  
  If the clips are damaged, exchange them for new clips.

REMOVE HOOD TO RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL
HINT:

If the clips are damaged, exchange them for a new clips.
REMOVE HOOD TO FRONT FENDER SEAL LH
HINT:

If the clips are damaged, exchange them for new clips.
REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSY
1. Remove the 4 bolts and hood.

1. Remove the 2 bolts and hood hinge.

REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
1. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips and cool air intake duct seal.

REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSY
1. Remove the 2 screws and disengage the 2 claws and remove the hood lock control cable cover.
  HINT:
  
  If the cover is damaged, exchange it for a new cover.

2. Using a screwdriver, pry out the nut cap.
  HINT:
  
  Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  
  NOTE: Removing the nut cap damages the clips inside the nut cap. Therefore, the use of a new nut cap is necessary for installation.

3. Remove the 3 bolts and hood lock.
4. Disconnect the connector.
5. Remove the cable.

INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSY
1. Install the cable.
2. Connect the connector.
3. Install the hood lock with the 3 bolts.
  Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 10 in..lbf)
4. Adjust the hood lock position (See ADJUSTMENT ).
5. Install the cap nut.
6. Install the hood lock control cable cover.

INSTALL HOOD HINGE ASSY LH
1. Install the hood hinge with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 13.0 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
INSTALL HOOD HINGE ASSY RH
1. Install the hood hinge with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 13.0 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)

INSTALL HOOD SUB-ASSY
1. Install the hood with the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 13.0 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
2. Adjust the hood position (See ADJUSTMENT ).

INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE
1. Install the radiator grille with the clip and 5 nuts.

2. Install the auxiliary catch hook with the bolt.
  Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in..lbf)
3. Install the auxiliary catch release lever with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in..lbf)
