Back Door (Exterior Body Panels): Adjustment
HINT:
- Use the same procedures on the RH side as on the LH side.
- Since a centering bolt is used as a door hinge mounting bolt on the body side and the door side, the door can not be adjusted with them on. Substitute a bolt with a washer for the centering bolt.
- INSPECT BACK DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY
- Check that the clearance is within the standard range.
Standard range:
CLEARANCE STANDARD RANGEA 6.5 +/- 2.0 mm (0.256 +/- 0.078 in.) B 8.1 +/- 2.0 mm (0.319 +/- 0.078 in.) C 1.0 +/- 2.0 mm (0.394 +/- 0.078 in.) D 5.5 +/- 1.5 mm (0.217 +/- 0.059 in.) E 0 +/- 1.5 mm (0 +/- 0.059 in.) - ADJUST BACK DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY
- Remove roof headlining (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Adjust the door horizontally and forward/rearward by loosening the body side hinge nuts.
- Tighten the body side hinge nuts after the adjustment.
Torque: 11.5 N.m (117 kgf.cm, 8.0 ft..lbf)
- Horizontally and vertically adjust the back door by loosening the back door side hinge bolts.
- Tighten the back door side hinge bolts after the adjustment.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in..lbf)
- Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws and hitting the striker with a plastic-faced hammer.
- Tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.
Torque: 23.0 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)
