Seat Position Air Bag Sensor: Replacement

  1. (See  PRECAUTION  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

  3. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSY 

    (See  OVERHAUL  (POWER SEAT) OR  OVERHAUL  (MANUAL SEAT)) 

  4. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  5. REMOVE VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB CAP (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  6. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE NO. 2 (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  8. REMOVE SLIDE & VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB (POWER SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  9. REMOVE RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB (POWER SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD ASSY (POWER SEAT) 
    1. Remove the 5 screws and the front seat cushion shield assy.
  11. REMOVE SEAT SLIDE POSITION SENSOR PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the seat slide position sensor protector from the seat position airbag sensor.
  12. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the seat position airbag sensor.
    2. Using a Torx® socket wrench (T30), remove the Torx® screw and the seat position airbag sensor.

  13. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
    3. Using a feeler gauge 1 mm (0.039 in.), install the seat position airbag sensor.
      NOTE:
      • If the seat position airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the seat position airbag sensor with a new one.
      • When installing the seat position airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

      HINT:

      Be sure that a clearance between the seat position airbag sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to 2 mm (0.079 in.).

    4. Using a Torx® socket wrench (T30), tighten the Torx® screw to install the seat position airbag sensor.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

    5. Make sure that a clearance between the seat position airbag sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to 2 mm (0.079 in.).
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the seat position airbag sensor.
    7. Connect the connector to the seat position airbag sensor.
  14. INSTALL SEAT SLIDE POSITION SENSOR PROTECTOR 
  15. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD ASSY (POWER SEAT) 
  16. INSTALL RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB (POWER SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  17. INSTALL SLIDE & VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB (POWER SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  18. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  19. INSTALL VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE NO. 2 (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  20. INSTALL VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB CAP (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  21. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH (MANUAL SEAT) (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  22. INSTALL FRONT LH SEAT ASSY 

    (See  OVERHAUL  (POWER SEAT) OR  OVERHAUL  (MANUAL SEAT) 

  23. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  24. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
