Air Bag Sensor ASSY Center: Replacement

  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (See  SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM  ) 
  3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX NO. 2 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO. 4 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  11. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO. 3 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  12. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  13. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assy center.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assy center.

  14. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is OFF.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.
    3. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assy center with the 3 bolts.
      NOTE:
      • Installation of the connector is performed with the airbag sensor assy center installed. Make sure the airbag sensor assy center is installed with the specified torque.
      • If the airbag sensor assy center has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assy center with a new one.
      • When installing the airbag sensor assy center, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

      Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    5. Connect the connector to the air bag sensor assy center.
    6. Check that no play is identified.
    7. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.
