Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Toyota Sienna. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Start the inspection from step  1 if you are using the hand-held tester and start from step  2 if you are not using the hand-held tester.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER (ABS WARNING LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select the item "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light on the hand-held tester.
    4. Check that "ON" of the ABS warning light is shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.
    1. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT (See  COMBINATION METER  ) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the combination meter and skid control ECU (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  )
