Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Start the inspection from step 1 in case of using the hand-held tester and start from step  3 (6) in case of not using hand-held tester.

1. CHECK SYSTEM

   Does not change light brightness	A
   Tail cancel switch does not operate	B

   1. B: Go to step   5 
   2. A: Go to next step 
2. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
   1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select the "DATA LIST".

      MTR (Combination meter):

3. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
   1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT TERMINALS RESISTANCE  .

      Standard: 

      LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT TERMINALS RESISTANCE
      
      

      Terminal No	Condition	Specified condition
      5 - 1	Constant	10 +/- 2kΩ
      7 - 1	Rheostat knob turned to fully clockwise	10 +/- 2kΩ
      7 - 1	Rheostat knob turned to fully counterclockwise	0Ω

   1. NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
   2. OK: Go to next step 
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
   1. Disconnect the C9, R6 connectors.
   2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      C9-13 - R6-1	Below 1 Ω
      C9-14 - R6-7	Below 1 Ω
      C9-15 - R6-5	Below 1 Ω
      C9-13 - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher
      C9-14 - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher
      C9-15 - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher

   1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
   2. OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
5. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
   1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select the "DATA LIST".

   1. NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
   2. OK: Go to next step 
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
   1. Disconnect the C9, R6 connectors.
   2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCE  .

      Standard: 

      LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      C9-16 - R6-6	Below 1 Ω
