Inspection Procedure

HINT:

• Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step  3 when not using hand-held tester.
• The ECM sends information on the water temperature sensor to the meter through the BEAN. If there is on open or short circuit in the water temperature sensor circuit, the ECM outputs DTCs. Perform troubleshooting with the "Engine system" DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER 
   1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and perform the "ACTIVE TEST".

      MTR (Combination meter):

   1. NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
   2. OK: Go to next step 
2. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
   1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select the "DATA LIST".

      ALL (ECM):

   1. NG: GO TO ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
   2. OK: Go to next step 
3. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEARS A KNOWN GOOD COMBINATION METER IS INSTALLED 
   1. NG: REPLACE ECM 
   2. OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  )
