Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Start the inspection from step 1 in case of using the hand-held tester and start from step 2 in case of not using hand-held tester.
- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER
- Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select the "DATA LIST".
MTR (Combination meter):

OFF: Switch is released-
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- NG: Go to next step
- Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select the "DATA LIST".
- INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT TERMINALS RESISTANCE
.LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT TERMINALS RESISTANCE
Terminal No Condition Specified condition 4 - 1 ODO/TRIP SW OFF --> ON Less than 1 Ω --> More than 10kΩ
- NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- OK: Go to next step
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT TERMINALS RESISTANCE

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
)
- Disconnect the C9, R6 connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCE

Standard:
LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT AND COMBINATION METER ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCETester Connection Specified Condition C9-13 - R6-1 Below 1 Ω C9-17 - R6-4 Below 1 Ω C9-13 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher C9-17 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
