Instrument Panel (On-Vehicle Service): Removal
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANELS
Using a screwdriver, remove the instrument side panels.
HINT:
- Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE SCUFF PLATES
Insert a screwdriver between the front door inside scuff plate and body to pry the scuff plate.
HINT:
- Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIMS
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISHES
Insert a screwdriver between the body and front pillar garnishes to pry the garnishes.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIMS
Remove the 2 clips and cowl side trims.
- REMOVE NO. 1 AND NO. 2 SPEAKER PANELS
HINT:
Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- Insert a screwdriver between the speaker panel and instrument panel safety pad to pry the speaker panel.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Insert a screwdriver between the speaker panel and instrument panel safety pad to pry the speaker panel.
- REMOVE NO. 2 UNDER COVER
Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 under cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the glove compartment door finish plate.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the airbag connector from the glove compartment door finish plate.
- Disconnect the airbag connector.NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the glove compartment door finish plate.
- REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER PANEL
Remove the 2 bolts, 2 screws and No. 2 lower panel.
- w/CD Changer: REMOVE CD CHANGER
- Remove the 4 nuts and CD changer.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
Torque:
Bolt: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
Nut: 5.6 N.m (57 kgf.cm, 50 in.lbf)
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.
CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
NOTE: At the time of installation, please refer to the following items.- Make sure that the front passenger airbag assembly is installed to the specified torque
- If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
- When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL AND PAD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVERS (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE LOWER FINISH PLATE
Using a screwdriver, remove the lower finish plate.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE LOWER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower cluster finish panel.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower cluster finish panel.
- REMOVE LOWER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower finish panel.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connectors and hood lock control cable.
- REMOVE LOWER INSERT
Remove the 2 bolts and lower insert.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE LOWER CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower center cluster finish panel with the ornament.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 6 screws and lower center cluster finish panel from the ornament.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower center cluster finish panel with the ornament.
- REMOVE CENTER FLOOR CARPET COVERS
- Remove a clip and center floor carpet cover LH.
- Remove the 2 clips and center floor carpet cover RH.
- REMOVE LOWER CENTER FINISH PANEL
Remove the 6 screws and lower center finish panel.
- REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the center cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connectors and cables.
- Remove the 4 screws and multi display assembly.
- Remove the 4 screws and radio assembly.
- REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the 2 screws.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER
- Remove the 3 screws and combination meter.
- Disconnect the connector.
- REMOVE LOWER RETAINERS
Remove the 2 bolts and lower retainers.
- REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the shift control link from the floor shift assembly.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the 4 nuts and floor shift assembly.
- REMOVE AIR DUCTS
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and instrument panel safety pad.
- REMOVE NO. 1 BRACE
- Remove the 2 nuts and shift control link.
- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 1 brace.
- REMOVE NO. 2 BRACE
Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 2 brace.
- REMOVE REINFORCEMENT
- Remove the 2 nuts and body ECU.
- Remove the 2 nuts and ABS ECU.
- Remove the pedal return spring.
- Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and instrument panel J/B.
- Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and reinforcement.
