Activating Air Bag System (RSX)
NOTE:
To reconnect front SRS connector, push sleeve-side connector half toward pawl-side connector half without touching sleeve. As connector halves are pressed together, pawl will push sleeve back. When connector halves are completely connected, pawl will release spring-loaded sleeve and lock connector.
- Ensure ignition is OFF and negative battery cable is disconnected for at least 3 minutes. Connect 4-pin driver's side air bag connector to cable reel connector. Install access panel under steering wheel.
- Connect 4-pin passenger's air bag connector to SRS harness connector. Install glove box. Connect driver's and passenger's side impact air bag module 2-pin connectors under front seats.
- Connect both front seat belt pretensioner connectors to SRS main harness. Connect both seat belt buckle tensioner connectors to SRS main harness.
- Ensure ignition is off. Connect negative battery cable. Ensure air bag system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Reset radio anti-theft code and preset radio frequencies. The idle learn procedure must be performed so the ECM can learn engine idle characteristics. To perform idle learn procedure, go to next step.
- Ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off. Start engine, and hold it at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, or until the engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed and cooling fan not operating.
NOTE:
If radiator cooling fan comes on, add the time the cooling fan is on to the 5 minute adaptive idle learn time.
