Disassembly & Assembly
- Remove brake caliper from vehicle. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using a screwdriver, remove boot ring and piston boot.
- Put a piece of cloth between piston and caliper.WARNING: Do not place your fingers in front of piston when using compressed air.
- Use compressed air to remove piston from cylinder.
- Using a screwdriver, remove piston seal.
- Remove sliding pins from torque plate. Remove sliding bushing from upper side of sliding pin. Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out dust boots.
- To assemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to dust boots, pistons, piston boots, sliding pins and sliding bushings. Confirm that metal plate portion of dust boot fits snugly in torque plate.
- Insert the sliding pin with sliding bushing into upper part, and insert sliding pin without sliding bushing into lower part.
- Install front brake caliper. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
