Inspection Procedure

  1. Check park/neutral position switch (Park/Reverse position switch circuit). 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Jack up the vehicle.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the park/neutral position switch.

      CHECK: 

      Check continuity between each terminal shown below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      OK: 

      PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONTINUITY

      P position switch Terminals 3 - 1 Continuity
      R position switch Terminals 3 - 2 Continuity

    1. NG: Replace park/neutral position switch. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between terminals P and R of skid control ECU and ECM connector and battery (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Check and replace skid control ECU or ECM.
