Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Check voltage.
      1. Remove the combination meter assy with connectors still connected.
      2. Measure voltage between terminals C7-22 and C7-28 of combination meter assy.

        Standard voltage: 5 V 

      3. Measure voltage between terminals C7-8 and C7-22 of combination meter assy.

        Standard voltage: 

        COMBINATION METER ASSY STANDARD VOLTAGE

        Fuel level (Meter scale) Voltage (V)
        F 4.4 <==> 0.1
        E 0.6 <==> 0.1

        HINT:

        As the fuel level is moved from F side to E side, the voltage decreases gradually without interruption.

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY 
    1. Check fuel sender gauge voltage.
      1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assy.
      2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the three 1.5 V dry cell batteries to terminal 2 (FV) and negative (-) lead to terminal 1 (FE).
      3. Measure voltage between terminals 1 (FE) and 3 (FR) of fuel sender gauge assy for each float position, as shown in the chart.

        Standard voltage: 

        FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSY STANDARD VOLTAGE

        F 73.4 (2.89) <==> 3 (0.12) 4.5 - 4.7
        1/2 12.9 (0.51) <==> 3 (0.12) 2.2 - 2.6

    1. NG: REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
