Inspection Procedure

NOTE: Start the inspection from step 1 in case of using the LEXUS hand held tester and start from step 2 in case of not using the LEXUS hand held tester.
  1. DO ACTIVE TEST OF ABS SOLENOIDO RELAY
    1. Check the operation sound of the ABS solenoid relay when operating it with the LEXUS hand held tester.

      OK:

The operation sound of the ABS solenoid relay should be heard.

    1. OK: Go to step   4
    2. NG: Go to next step.
  2. INSPECT ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK NO. 2
    1. Remove the ABS solenoid relay from the engine room R/B No. 2.
    2. Measure the voltage between terminal 3 of engine room R/B No. 2 (for ABS solenoid relay) and body ground.

      OK:

      Voltage: 10 - 14V

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  3. CHECK ABS SOLENOID RELAY
    1. Check continuity between each terminal of ABS solenoid relay.

      OK:

ABS SOLENOID RELAY TERMINALS CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

      Terminals 4 and 6 Continuity (Reference value 80 Ω)
      Terminals 1 and 3 Open
    2. Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 4 and 6.
    3. Check continuity between each terminal of ABS solenoid relay.

      OK:

    1. NG: REPLACE ABS SOLENOID RELAY
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  4. INSPECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSY
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors (B1 and B2) from the brake master cylinder.
    2. Check continuity between terminal B1 - 4 and B2 - 1 of brake master cylinder.

      OK:

      Continuity

    NOTE: This is a resistance of 30 - 36 Ω

    1. NG: REPLACE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSY
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 2 - BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER)
    1. Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between terminal BS of brake master cylinder and engine room R/B No. 2.
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER - SKID CONTROL ECU)
    1. Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between terminal AST of brake master cylinder and skid control ECU.
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
    2. OK: CHECK EACH CONNECTION IF SAME CODE SS STILL OUTPUT AFTER DTC DELETION (IF NORMAL, THE ECU MAY BE DEFECTIVE.)
