Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BUZZER(KEY UNLOCK WARNING, PARKING BRAKE Warning, SEAT BELT WARNING) 
    1. Check that the all of the warning buzzers sound.
    INSPECTION PROCEDURE

    A All buzzers do not sound
    B Seat belt warning buzzer does not sound
    C Key unlock warning buzzer does not sound
    D Parking brake warning does not sound
    1. B: GO TO STEP 2 
    2. C: GO TO STEP   6 
    3. D: GO TO BRAKE SYSTEM 
    4. A: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
  2. DO ACTIVE TEST OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check that the seat belt warning buzzer sound.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check that the buzzer sound by the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.

      OK: Seat belt warning buzzer sounds normally. 

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. READ VALUE OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check output valve of driver's side buckle switch.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check the driver's side buckle switch using DATA LIST.
    1. OK: GO TO STEP   10 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Check continuity.
      1. Disconnect the connector of the front seat inner belt LH.
      2. Check continuity between terminals 2 and 4 when the buckle switch condition as shown in the chart below.

    OK: 

    CONTINUITY CHART

    Condition Continuity
    Seat belt unfastened Continuity
    Seat belt fastened No continuity
    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(BETWEEN FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH AND DRIVER SIDE J/B ECU) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK 
  6. DO ACTIVE TEST OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check that the key unlock warning buzzer sound.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check that the buzzer sound by the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester. OK: Key unlock warning buzzer sounds normally.
    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  7. READ VALUE OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check output value of key unlock warning switch.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check the key unlock warning switch using DATA LIST.
    1. OK: GO TO STEP   11 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  8. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    1. NG: REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(BETWEEN TRANSPONDER KEY COMPUTER AND UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSY 
  10. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEAR A KNOWN GOOD COMBINATION METER IS INSTALLED 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a know good combination meter is installed.
    MALFUNCTION CHART

    A Malfunction does not disappear
    B Malfunction disappear
    1. B: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  11. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEAR A KNOWN GOOD COMBINATION METER IS INSTALLED 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a know good combination meter is installed.
    MALFUNCTION CHART

    A Malfunction does not disappear
    B Malfunction disappear
    1. B: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. A: CHECK TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSY
