Inspection Procedure

1. Check speedometer operation.
   1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
   2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
   3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
   4. Check that the prove moves as OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester directs in each range.

   OK: The meter operates normally. 

1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

1. Check output value of speedometer.
   1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
   2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
   3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
   4. Check that there is no difference between the speed value output from the speed sensor displayed by the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester and the speed value displayed by the speedometer when driving the vehicle.

   OK: There is almost no difference from the displayed speed value. 

1. NG: GO TO BRAKE SYSTEM 
2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

1. Check voltage between terminal S1 of combination meter and body ground.
   1. Remove the combination meter with connectors still connected.
   2. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
   3. Jack up one of the rear wheel.
   4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
   5. Measure voltage between terminal S1 of combination meter and body ground when the rear wheels are turned slowly.

Voltage is generated intermittently.

1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY
