Inspection Procedure

  1. DO ACTIVE TEST OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check fuel receiver gauge operation.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check that the prove moves as OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester directs in each range.

      OK: The meter operations normally. 

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY(MAIN) 
    1. Check fuel sender gauge (main) resistance.
      1. Remove the fuel sender gauge.
      2. Measure resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of fuel sender gauge for each float position, as shown in the chart.

    Standard resistance:

    1. NG: REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY (SUB) 
    1. Check fuel sender gauge (sub) resistance.
      1. Remove the fuel sender gauge.
      2. Measure resistance between terminals of fuel sender gauge for each float position, as shown in the chart.

    Standard resistance:

    1. NG: REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR(BETWEEN FUEL SENDER GAUGE I AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR(BETEEN FUEL SENDER GAUGE AND I COMBINATION METER) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY
