Removal (LS 430)

Remove rear wheel.
On the right wheel, disconnect the pad wear indicator wire harness from the clamp. On both wheels, remove the 2 bolts and brake caliper assembly. Suspend the brake caliper securely. It is not necessary to disconnect the flexible hose but make sure it is not stretched.
Place matchmarks on the disc and rear axle hub and remove the disc. If disc cannot be removed easily, contract the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns freely. See Figure.
Using special tool (09703-30010), remove the shoe return spring.
Using special tool (09718-00010), remove the cap, shoe hold-down spring and pin.
Disconnect the tension spring from the upper shoe. Remove the upper shoe and shoe adjuster.
Remove the tension spring from the lower shoe. Using special tool (09718-00010), remove the cap, shoe hold-down spring and pin.
Remove the lower shoe.
Disconnect the parking brake cable and remove the parking brake shoe lever. Note which lever is removed from each side.
Remove the 2 nuts and anchor block from the rear axle carrier.
