Removal (LX 470)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Check brake pads through caliper inspection hole for minimum thickness. Replace pads if they are not within specification. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Remove clip and pins.
  3. Remove pad retainer clips. Remove pads, anti-squeal shims, and pad retainers. The pad retainer clip and clip can be used again provided that they have sufficient rebound, no deformation, cracks or wear, and have had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.
  4. Using a micrometer, measure disc thickness. Replace disc if thickness of disc is at minimum thickness or less. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS . Replace disc or grind it on a lathe if it is scored or is worn unevenly.
  5. Check disc runout. See DISC RUNOUT  under ADJUSTMENTS.
