Installation (LX 470)

  1. Draw out a small amount of brake fluid from reservoir. Press in piston with an appropriate caliper piston compressor. Always change pads on one wheel at a time as there is a possibility of opposite piston fling out. If piston is difficult to push in, loosen bleeder screw and push in piston while letting some brake fluid escape.
  2. Install 2 pad retainers to each caliper piston.
  3. Install anti-squeal shim to each pad. Apply disc brake grease to both sides of anti-squeal shims.
  4. NOTE: There should be no oil or grease adhering to friction surfaces of pads or disc.
  5. Install brake pads. Apply disc brake grease to pads on surface facing shims.
  6. Install pad retainer clips and pins. Install clip.
  7. If bleeder screws were loosened, bleed system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  8. Install front wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Check that fluid level is at MAX line.
