Removal & Installation (LS 430)

  1. Remove front wheel.
  2. Remove clip, pin and anti-rattle spring. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove 2 pads with anti-squeal shims. Do not disconnect pad wear indicator assembly unless pads are to be replaced.
  4. Remove union bolt and gasket from caliper. Disconnect brake hose from caliper. Use a container to catch brake fluid as it drains out.
  5. Remove 2 bolts and caliper from knuckle.
  6. To install, use 2 new bolts. Since the screwed part is an aluminum knuckle, carefully clean any foreign matter on screwed surface. Do not over tighten fasteners. Pull caliper toward outside of vehicle to remove play between pin and knuckle hole. Tighten bolts starting with lower bolt. Observe the correct order and tighten only to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install flexible hose lock securely in lock hole in caliper.
  8. Install new gaskets and tighten union bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Tighten wheel lug nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  11. Check system for leaks.
