Disassembly & Assembly (LS 430)

  1. Remove brake caliper from vehicle. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a screwdriver, remove caliper boot set rings and caliper boots from caliper.
WARNING: Do not place your fingers in front of piston when using compressed air.
  2. Prepare a wooden plate to hold pistons. Place plate between pistons and insert a pad at one side. Use compressed air to remove pistons alternately from caliper.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove piston seals from caliper. On LS 430, retainers are non-reusable parts. Replace caliper if they are cracked or deformed, or if they come off.
  4. To assemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to piston seals, pistons and boots.
  5. Install brake caliper. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
