Disassembly (SC 430)
- Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove brake booster gasket from brake master cylinder.
- Using special tool (09630-00014), (09631-00142), (09950-60010), (09951-00180), (09951-00190), clamp brake master cylinder in vise. See Figure.
- Loosen lock nut, then remove push rod clevis and lock nut. See Figure.
- Remove master cylinder boot.
- Remove screws and pull out master cylinder reservoir assembly.
- Remove brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
- Remove reservoir grommets from brake cylinder assembly.
- Pressing brake master cylinder plug in with a screwdriver, use a pin or equivalent to push snap ring from hole in master cylinder body. Remove it with another screwdriver.
- Remove piston, pulling it straight out, not an angle.
- Using hexagon wrench, remove bolt and brake actuator No. 1 bracket.
- Disconnect level warning switch connector from brake actuator No. 3 bracket.
- Using hexagon wrench, remove bolt and brake actuator No. 3 bracket.
- Using special tool (09023-00100), remove brake actuator No. 1 tube.
- Slide 2 clips and remove brake actuator hose and clips.
- Remove union bolt, gaskets and union No. 2.
- Remove screws, disconnect clamp and remove brake control wire.
- Using hexagon wrench, remove bolts and brake booster pump bracket No 3.
- Hold accumulator pump assembly. Using hexagon wrench, remove bolt and brake booster pump bracket.
- Remove brake booster with accumulator pump assembly.
- Remove bolt and brake booster pump bracket. Remove washers, bushes, collars and shaft.
- Using hexagon wrench, remove bolts and brake booster pump No. 2 bracket.
- Place booster pump with a cloth under it in vise.
- Using special tool (09318-12010), remove accumulator. Remove brake booster accumulator pipe, compression spring and O-ring. Ensure no foreign matter enters pump.
- To dispose of accumulator, drain high pressure gas from accumulator. Place accumulator in a vise. Cover accumulator and a saw with a cloth. Cut accumulator body slowly.
CAUTION:
Never cut at a stretch. When outer body of accumulator is cut, gas discharges. Be careful of flying debris.
