Disassembly (IS 300)
- Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove set screw and pull out reservoir. Remove 2 grommets.
- Place master cylinder in vise.
- Using a screwdriver, remove master cylinder boot.
- Push in piston with a screwdriver and remove snap ring with snap ring pliers.
- Tape the end of a screwdriver, push in piston with screwdriver and remove straight pins by turning over cylinder body.
- Remove pistons and springs by hand, pulling straight out, not at an angle.
- Place a rag and 2 wooden blocks on work table and lightly tap cylinder flange against block edges until piston drops out of cylinder. Make sure distance from rag to top of blocks is at least 3.94" (100 mm). See Figure.
- Clean parts with compressed air. Inspect cylinder bore for rust, scoring, wear or damage. If necessary, clean or replace cylinder.
