Disassembly (LX 470)
- Remove hydraulic brake booster assembly. See HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Place hydraulic brake booster in vise with special tool (09630-00014), (09631-00142), (09950-60010), (09951-00190). See Figure.
- Disconnect harness connector, remove bolt and clamp, and remove fluid level warning switch connector clamp. See Fig 1.
- Remove reservoir cap. Remove set screws and pull out reservoir. Remove grommets.
- Loosen lock nut. Remove clevis, lock nut and caliper boot.
- Using special tool (09023-00100), remove brake actuator tube No. 1. See Fig 2.
- Remove actuator hose.
- Remove screws and wire harness from booster and pump.
- Remove bolts and accumulator bracket.
- Remove bolts and booster pump motor assembly.
- Remove bolt and No. 1 pump bracket.
- Remove washers, cushions, collars and sleeve.
- Remove bolts and No. 2 pump bracket.
- Remove cushion from No. 2 pump bracket.
- Using 30 mm deep socket wrench, remove oil pressure sensor. If replacing master cylinder pressure sensor, since sensor is non-reusable, use a sensor with supply part No. 89637-30050.
- Pressing piston in with a screwdriver, use a pin or an equivalent to push snap ring from hole in body. Remove it with another screwdriver. Remove piston, pulling straight out, not at an angle.
- Using special tool (09318-12010), remove accumulator from booster pump.
- Remove silencer tube, spring and O-ring.
- To dispose of accumulator, drain high pressure gas from accumulator. Place in a vise. Cover accumulator and a saw with a cloth, and cut accumulator body slowly.
CAUTION:
Never cut at a stretch. When outer body of accumulator is cut, gas discharges. Be careful of flying debris.
