Es300 & RX300

  1. Drain engine coolant. Remove No. 1 ECT switch. Using ohmmeter, ensure there is no continuity between terminals when coolant temperature is greater than 98°C (201° F). If continuity exists, replace switch.
  2. Ensure there is continuity between terminals when temperature is less than 88° C (190° F). If there is no continuity, replace switch. Reinstall No. 1 ECT switch.
  3. Remove No. 2 ECT switch. Using ohmmeter, ensure there is no continuity between terminals when coolant temperature is greater than 94° C (201° F). If continuity exists, replace switch.
  4. Ensure there is continuity between terminals when coolant temperature is less than 83° C (181° F). If there is no continuity, replace switch. Reinstall No. 2 ECT switch. Refill engine coolant. Start engine, and check for coolant leaks.
