Removal & Installation (GS300, GS400, LS400 & SC400)

  1. Remove drive shaft assembly. See DRIVE SHAFT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using paint, apply match marks to intermediate shaft and drive shaft and separate shafts. Wrap vinyl tape around spline and remove dust boot. Remove snap ring. Using a puller, remove center bearing and dust deflector.
  2. Remove vinyl tape from spline, and apply a lithium base grease to spline. Align match marks, and assemble intermediate shaft and drive shaft. When assembling intermediate and drive shafts, ensure companion flanges at each end are 180 degrees offset. Cover adjusting nut with dust boot, and tighten adjusting nut by hand.
