Side Gear Shaft & Oil Seal: Installation

Coat new oil seal lip with grease and install using seal driver and handle. Install NEW snap ring to side gear shaft. Using a hammer and a brass bar, install side gear shaft into differential. Use care not to damage side gear shaft or oil seal. Ensure side gear shaft has .08-.12" (2-3 mm) of in and out play. Ensure side gear shaft cannot be pulled out by hand. Install axle shaft. See RWD AXLE SHAFTS article. On LS400 models, install exhaust tailpipe. Fill differential.
