Test No. 17: Engine Oil Level Warning Light Remains Illuminated
- Turn ignition on. Start engine within 15 seconds. If light remains illuminated or illuminates after engine is started, go to next step. If light turns off and stays off, disconnect generator connector. If light illuminates, repair wiring. If light does not illuminate, check generator. See GENERATOR & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING. Repair as necessary.
- Connect instrument cluster cavity "A", terminal No. 8 (Red/Black wire) to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If light illuminates, replace circuit plate and retest. If light does not illuminate, check oil level warning switch. See OIL LEVEL WARNING SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If oil level warning switch is okay, repair Red/Black wire between instrument cluster and oil level warning switch.
