Speedometer Circuit

NOTE: Begin testing with step 2) if Lexus Hand-Held Tester (scan tool) is not available.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector No. 3 (DLC3). Turn ignition on. Turn scan tool on and select ACTIVE TEST mode. If speedometer tests properly, go to VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) CIRCUIT . If speedometer does not operate properly, go to next step.
  2. Check speedometer. See SPEEDOMETER  under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If speedometer is okay, go to next step.
  3. Check instrument cluster circuit plate. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If instrument cluster circuit plate is okay, check and repair instrument cluster circuit. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUIT .
